If the recent 66 inches of new snow over 12 days isn’t enough for you, Snowmass has a slate of fun spring time events that will lift your spirits and make you smile. Here’s a quick rundown of the wonderful and quirky activities.
Après-Ski Cocktail Classic
Is there anything more satisfying than a good drink after an epic day on the mountain? Come to the Westin Snowmass Resort March 5-8 for the Après-Ski Cocktail Classic and sample some of the most tempting and tasty libations around. Relax and enjoy the Grand Tasting Village, Private Reserve Room and mixology seminars. After tipping back some of the creative craft cocktails, après-ski will never be the same.
Bud Light Spring Jam
The Bud Light Spring Jam has made a name for itself as a premier skieroarder event with hip music and daring on-mountain athletic events. Taking place over 3 weekends in March (3/13-3/29), Spring Jam hosts Big Air Fridays, KickAspen Big Air and free energizing concerts in downtown Aspen. Book your lodging now and enjoy the Spring Jam activities on and off the mountain.
CORE Party 2015
There’s nothing like a free outdoor block party to get you in the mood for spring! The CORE Party in downtown Aspen near Paradise Bakery features the latest musical talent and a Bud Light beer garden for those 21 and older. On March 13 from 6:30pm-8:30pm DJ Naka G warms up the concert goers by spinning an eclectic mix to match the mood of the crowd. The dance moves continue while listening to Umphrey’s McGee, a rock and jam band that embraces bluegrass, funk, jazz and folk music.
Terrain Park Boot Camp
Learn how to slide rails and hit boxes from some of the best coaches in the sport. Beginning skiers and snowboarders will experiment with Snowmass terrain park features in a safe, encouraging and fun environment over a two day period. The free Terrain Park Boot Camp is open to those 13 and older and is held on weekends from March 14-29.
Susan G. Komen Ski for the Cure
You’ve heard of the Race for the Cure, now there’s the Susan G. Komen Ski for the Cure. Come to Snowmass Mountain for an on-mountain treasure hunt, an outdoor barbeque with a DJ, ski racing, après-ski party and snow games. This event is a great way to meet like-minded individuals who are interested in skiing and charitable events.
Banked Slalom 2015
The 3rd Annual Banked Slalom competition on Snowmass Mountain is open to snowboarders of all ages, competing in different divisions. The groups are: 10 and under, 11 – 15, and 16 and older with both male and female divisions. Register before or on the day of the event. Practice is open one hour before the competition begins. Make sure to invite your friends and family to spectate and cheer at this event held on March 21 from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
Get ready to laugh Schneetag 2015, a spring skiing tradition that rotates around the local mountains. This year Aspen Highlands hosts the goofy competition involving teams performing skits and then plunging down a slope to hydroplane across an icy pond in a homemade watercraft. The key word is “across”, because not all of the teams make it to the other side of the pond.
Closing Day at Snowmass
Snowmass Mountain closes on April 12, so put on your Elvis costume and join the fun as locals and visitors alike ski, ride and celebrate another stellar season. If a tutu, clown nose or disco outfit is more to your liking, go for it—you’ll be greeted with smiles, beer, music and possibly discounts everywhere you go.
