Snowmass Holiday Festivities – December 21-24
The phrase “Winter Wonderland” takes on new meaning when you stroll the Snowmass Mall and Base Village for the Holiday Festivities. Santa will be there, listening to everyone’s wishes and smiling for complimentary photos. Costumed carolers will serenade the crowd with Christmas favorites. Create new family traditions with tree-lighting ceremonies and the holiday cheer surrounding Santa’s Village.
Torchlight Parade and Fireworks – December 31
Don’t miss the annual torchlight parade as skiers float down the mountain at night carrying glowing torches. It’s a sight to behold as the skiers glide back and forth in a serpentine line, crisscrossing the mountain. Right after that, glorious fireworks light up the sky to usher in the New Year. Pick your favorites as the cascading sparks illuminate the snow.
Bud Light Big Rail Fridays – Fridays, February 5 to March 25
Check out the spectacular show that the Big Rail athletes thrown down in Snowmass on Fridays on February and March. The jumps, spins and twists will leave you breathless as competitors navigate the urban inspired rail garden on Fanny Hill. With cash prizes and spectator giveaways, the Bud Light Big Rail Competition is a “must do” during your Snowmass vacation. To top it off, there’s a Little Rail competition for the younger ones.
Mardi Gras Celebration – February 9, 2016
Immerse yourself in the 34th Annual Fat Tuesday Holiday in Snowmass Village by celebrating with beads, Cajun food and of course music! Catch the zany midafternoon parade, ending with a free concert, clowns and face painting. Mardi Gras specials on delicious food and drink at the local restaurants will tempt your taste buds. Over 24,000 beads will be tossed into the crowds, some with special beads that give the lucky catcher a slice of King Cake and a chance to win a Snowboard.
Audi Power of Four Race – February 27, 2016
Check out the hottest new skiing trend by watching (or doing) the Audi Power of Four Race: Ski Mountaineering. Competitors race against the clock as they skin up and ski down challenging trails on all 4 local mountains. Using back country ski equipment, backpacks and a huge dose of physical stamina, racers complete the grueling race under whatever conditions Mother Nature throws at them: freezing temps, howling wind, stinging snow or sometimes, bluebird skies. If you want to get a taste of the sport, try the Recreational Division by tackling only 2 mountains: Aspen Highlands and Aspen Mountain.
