Family Fun and Kid Approved Activities in Snowmass this Summer

Summer is in full swing here in Snowmass and that means all kinds of activities! Here are some of our favorite “Kid Approved” activities designed for families and kids of all ages:

Family Sunset Dinner and Backcountry Jeep Tour
Enjoy the splendor of the mountains in the summer! Head up into the hills in a specifically designed Jeep for views of the sprawling Elk Mountains and meadows of wildflowers. The backcountry tour ends at the Burlingame Cabin where a hearty 3-course dinner will end the evening. This is not an event to be missed! Appropriate for all ages.

Picnic at Anderson Ranch Café
Enjoy this delightful lunchtime picnic at the Anderson Ranch Café. With seating both indoors and outdoors the seasonally oriented menu and kid-friendly environment promotes learning and connection to place. Appropriate for all ages.

Snowmass Rodeo
A summer highlight throughout the area, the Snowmass Rodeo features bull riding, team roping, barrel racing, and bronco riding. Local children compete in the calf scramble and the mutton bustin’ events. With the high energy entertainment, petting zoo, and mechanical bull the rodeo is a smash-hit with kids of all ages. The last rodeo is tomorrow, 8/17/16. Make sure to catch this awesome event while you can!

River Rafting Day
This by reservation activity is a fantastic way to promote a sense of shared adventure amongst a family. Spend an afternoon or full day on the Roaring Fork River, the Arkansas River, or the mighty Colorado working together to navigate fun and exciting obstacles. Trips can be tailored to difficulty level and group size though children must be over 6 years of age.

Kids’ Crafts
This fantastic free event allows children to explore their creativity in the inspiring mountain environment. Kids have the resources to create hats, backpacks, picture frames, and other unique vacation mementos. Children ages 8-12 have the option to attend though they must be accompanied by an adult.

These programs are a part of the V.I.K. (Very Important Kid) Program designed to give children and families unique activities that are entertaining, fun, and focused on the surrounding mountain environment.
