Snowmass Closing Day, April 12

Are you craving more days on the slopes? Maybe you didn’t ski or ride much this year and feel the urge to lay down tracks. Or maybe you skied or rode a lot, and want more of the fresh mountain air and superb corn snow. Either way, get cracking—you only have a few days left to hit Snowmass runs.

It’s hard to say goodbye. Sadly, Snowmass closes on April 12. But on closing day, Snowmass lightens the mood by celebrating in style until the sun goes down (and beyond).

Scheentag—there’s nothing like it. If watching whacky competitors attempt to skim across an icy pond on a homemade craft sounds crazy and amusing, you are right. The 7th annual Schneetag (pronounced Sch-knee Tog) has teams skimming across an icy 75 foot pond in a custom watercraft. Wearing themed costumes, they perform a skit, fly down a slope and grasp for dear life as they skim and sink in the water. This annual competition rotates around the local mountains and this year Aspen Highlands is the lucky host.

Outrageous costumes—who’s your alter ego? The Scheentag teams aren’t the only ones in costumes. Locals and visitors alike channel their inner and outer Lady Gaga and Barack Obama by dressing the part and riding the lifts to fields of spring snow. If you prefer a simple tiara or red cape, go for it!

Life is good with live music and scrumptious food. As you make turns around the mountain, look for discounts on tasty bites and listen for strains of your favorite tunes. Chefs and musicians like to celebrate closing day too.

Book lodging before it’s too late. Our local reservationists are happy to make your Snowmass spring dreams come true. Just call (844)-249-5274. Or book online to reserve a ski-in, ski-out condo. There’s less competition for premium accommodations at this time of year.

Let’s celebrate winding down winter and starting up spring!
