To celebrate more than 30 years of Mardi Gras revelry, Snowmass Tourism is kicking it up several
notches this year with bigger and better entertainment and fireworks. The Henry Butler Trio will be
performing a free concert in Base Village at 5:15pm, on Fat Tuesday, February 12. Henry Butler
is a widely hailed as a pianist and vocalist – both as a solo artist and with a variety of groups – and
considered by many to be the premier exponent of the great New Orleans jazz and blues piano
tradition. This year’s Mardi Gras Celebration will feature entertainers throughout the day in the Mall
and Base Village. The popular Mardi Gras Parade bead throw starts at 3:00pm on the Mall and the
parade will follow at 4:15pm. Let’s party New Orleans style!

Snowmass Tourism is excited to announce a new social-athletic event that will be held in
Snowmass the weekend of June 21 to 23, 2013, entitled “Kick My Snowmass” which is a national
kickball tournament. The Kick My Snowmass event is an expansion of our strategy to tap into
events with group-specific interests through collaborations between Snowmass Tourism and multiseason
adult recreational/social athletic groups. For the Kick my Snowmass event, we are teaming
with The World Adult Kickball Association (WAKA) to throw together a weekend of kickball, fun,
and music in the mountains.
WAKA Social Sports was founded 15 years ago for a fun way to meet people and play outdoors.
There are tens of thousands of people from 35 states who passionately play and positively change
their social life through WAKA. Teams from leagues in Colorado and across the Midwest will be
traveling to Snowmass Village to play kickball and to socialize with new and old friends this summer
and into the future.
Other Denver based social-athletic leagues are also being targeted for summer tournaments in
Snowmass which supports the community as a whole bringing in new vitality. They include a growing
Colorado Ragnar Relay event as well as national volleyball and soccer tournaments. Details will be
announced shortly…so stay tuned!
